Introduction de l'allégement du BIT de Normann Copenhagen
A stool that looks like it belongs in a museum, but is immediately at home at your bank. Fat in shape, pixed in texture, and made entirely of recycled plastic, the bit stool is a design object that is unexpectedly versatile and surprisingly fun.
This is not just about something to sit. It is a statement piece with goal.

A designer who understands the share and the game
Designed by Simon Legald for Normann CopenhagenBIT is part of a wider collection that turns industrial waste into sculptural, multifunctional furniture. Legald, who leads head of the Danish brand, is known for his ability to combine technical insight with playful proportions. He cut his teeth to the Royal Danish Academy and spent more than ten years shaping some of the best known pieces of Normann Copenhagen, including the shape chair and block table.
With Bit Wild Legald things simple but not to keep it safe. “The design is almost naive and childish, but refined,” he explains. “The goal was to create something exciting and valuable with the help of recycled materials. To change waste into something that people really want to keep.”
Daring forms, recycled origin
At first glance, bit is unmistakably modern. The silhouette is thick, geometric and confident, more thinking of architectural columns or cut stone monoliths than conventional furniture. But walk your hand over the surface and another story comes to the fore. The tactile, speckled texture consists of small chips from household and industrial plastic, reused, reused and re -devised.
Available in four colors (spotted gray, multicolour, black and white), each version has its own rhythm and character. The colorful variants show the raw materials and imperfections. The black and white models, on the other hand, make the form speak quieter.
Each piece is made of high density polyethylene using a rotation technique that gives the stool its unique grain and marbled texture. No two are similar.
Designed for now (and for later)
Normann Copenhagen was founded in 1999 with a clear ambition: to make the ordinary extraordinary. The Bit collection fits square in that tradition and offers objects that are functional, joyful and made to come along. For Huset, where permanent design matters as much as aesthetic impact, bit talks about the type of product we are always looking for.
It’s not just a chair. It is a side table, plant stand, bed person or low plinth to display your favorite objects. It is just as at home in a living room, bathroom, corridor or garden. Lightweight and UV-stable, it is built for use inside and outside, and adjusts easily when seasons change.

There is a calm cleverness in flexibility. It is the type of design that lives with you, not just at your home.
Design with intention, built for a long service life
Bit does not call. It is not dependent on trends or novelty. What makes it interesting is what makes it useful: a strong form, considered as materials and a clear goal. It is a product of its time, designed with sustainability and lifetime in mind.
As Legald says: “My goal is to make products that are both visually and functionally sustainable, that hold well over the years.” It is a philosophy that determines how Normann Copenhagen works, takes timeless Danish design principles and applies it to new material and modern life.
Never just, never exaggerated
For a piece that is made of fragments of old detergent and industrial waste, Bit feels surprisingly personal. Its presence is strong, but not loud. It adds personality without junk. A small draft decision with a lasting impact.
In stock now at Huset, the Bit Stool is ready to move in. BIT is part of a growing collection that also includes bar stools and lounge chairs.
